The second of the pair of large watercolour paintings showing the life and cycle of an agapanthus flower. This one shows the full bloom and the subsequent fading of the flower. Look again for the bees, persistent to the end. I prefer the opening of the bud and this latter stage, to the blowsy full bloom. The silvery sheath around the forming seed pod shimmers ghost like in the misty low light of morning and late afternoon. I've used an irridescent liquid to try and show this. If you move around the original painting (obviously not the print) you can see it shimmer in the light.
The final seed pod offers a promise of new life.
