"Echium over Porthmellon", St Marys, Isles of Scilly
The original of this seascape painting was created in watercolour with some pastel and was the same size as the large print we offer (about twenty seven and a half inches tall by nine and three quarter inches wide). I painted this seascape perched on the rocky wall overlooking Porthmellon beach in June 2008. My friends, Richard and Anne Farr, live opposite and have cleared and planted the rough ground to enhance the view. I was very careful not to sit on anything important! It is a very public place to paint with lots of passing traffic and pedestrians so everyone was able to see its progress over the course of the several days I was painting here.
