This was one of a pair painted from the same spot just below the Garrison wall on Porthcressa in January 2011. It was painted on bright clear mornings but there were occasional passing squalls. So I would alternate between the two paintings. The other painting is bright and sunny but I actually prefer this rather moody version. The light was very clear and strong and I was sheltered from the worst of the showers by the wall behind me. Peninnis headland with its old lighthouse is practically in silhouette.
