Scilly Seasons - Summer
Heather Carpet, Porth Hellick, St Marys, Isles of Scilly
This was painted on mornings in the summer of 2007 on Porth Hellick down. In the distance is Giants Castle, an early fortification on the islands. My main memory of painting here (apart from the wonderful colour of the bouncy heather) was falling over while getting off my seat! I couldn't pull myself up for fear of damaging the painting so ended up with gorse thorns embedded in my palms. I'm told you have to suffer for your art .....
