Scilly Seasons - Summer
Buddleia, Porthloo, St Marys, Isles of Scilly
A painting in watercolour with some pastel, this is 18" square and the full size print is approximately the same size. This vibrant purple Butterfly Bush grows in the middle of the only traffic island on the Scillies which is part of our drive! It was painted in July 2007 which was not really a good year for butterflies as it was one of the wettest in memory, however it suited the buddleia which was very lush and green. Scilly did not suffer quite as much, with the worst passing over us (mostly during the nights as I recall. There are at least three butterflies on the bush in this painting.
