The original of this painting was created in watercolour with some pastel and was the same size as the large print we offer (approximately twenty six and a half inches wide by nine and a half inches tall). This was painted in early August 2011 on the grassy bank in front of Beachfield House at Thomas Porth on sunny afternoons with a bright silvery sea. Its full title is "Agapanthus Harbour (New Moon)". Four people wanted to buy this when it was finished but I had already promised it to two guests who were staying with us. I usually let the new owners name their original and they wanted to call it "New Moon in the Harbour" after a yacht moored in the harbour that they had paddled past in their canoes. However, I thought we ought to include 'Agapanthus' in the title so we settled on this compromise! This painting does offer a good view of the harbour with Hugh Town beyind and, of course, the agapanthus that is everyone's abiding memory of Scilly at this time of the year.
