The original of this seascape painting was created in watercolour with some pastel and was the same size as the large print we offer (about twenty seven and three quarter inches wide by nine and three quarter inches tall). It was painted on a sunny, calm afternoon on Porthmellon bank in the late summer of 2007. It shows St Marys harbour busy with yachts and the Scillonian III is just about to leave on its return voyage to Penzance. The agapanthus in the foreground were planted by a local Scillonian gentleman who lives in the cottages behind where I was sitting. The monbretia found its own way there...
