This intricate and colourful painting was done in pure watercolour and the original was 27 inches tall x 9 ¾ inches wide. My wife requested this painting for her birthday present but has graciously allowed me to use it for this print.
'Pebbles, Carn Leh' was painting on warm autumn mornings in 2005. The cove behind Carn Leh (on the west side of Old Town bay) is full of beautifully rounded rocks and pebbles. The tide had just gone out which, combined with an early morning mist, had left the pebbles damp and shiny. The colours brought out by the dampness on the surfaces of the granite pebbles were absolutely fascinating.
