This was painted during late afternoons in the summer of 2010. I was seated just above the remains of the ancient village at Bants Carn on Halangy Down. The land is managed by English Heritage and the area where I was sat is left fallow to allow the heather and wild flowers to flourish. In the distance, you can see the edge of Tresco, Round Island, Men-a-Vaur etc. There were beautiful calm idyllic afternoons with just the occasional boat passing up the channel.
