This was painted in the heat of June 2008, in the Abbey Gardens on Tresco. The Neptune Steps leading up to the stone bust of Neptune is one of the older features of the famous gardens. In the foreground, I painted one of the colourful Golden Pheasants that roam the gardens. Later on, I enjoyed the company of the hen pheasant and three chicks - cute, but not as splendid as the male.
