This striking flower painting was done in watercolour with some pastel and the original was eighteen inches square.Although I have painted Agapanthus at an extra large scale before, I wanted to capture the various stages and colours at those stages of flowering. I particularly like the magenta colour as the petals fade from blue. There are four flowers here from bursting bud to just before its demise, starting with the youngest in the centre.
