Scilly Seasons - Autumn
Ancient Village (Bants Carn), St Marys, Isles of Scilly
At Bants Carn, on the west coast of St Marys, are the ruins of a bronze age village set into the hillside, once at the head of a now flooded valley. I sat here to paint on a series of quiet afternoons in the autumn of 2008, looking south west towards the Western Isles and the Bishop Rock Lighthouse. You can see the walls of the huts and walk inside them, imagining life so long ago.
