Biography

ROBIN PEARCE

Since returning to painting in 2014 after 30 years away, I have utilised an experimental approach to medium, mark making and application techniques. I work in a variety of mediums and play with the boundaries of what can be achieved with them. Much of my inspiration comes from my deep attachment to the Cornish coast, where I roamed in my formative years, and the landscape of the Surrey Hills and the commons and lakes around Frensham where I am now based.

Most of my current work is completed using a simple base pallet to provide immediate harmonisation and a sense of meditative calm, whether the overall mood is light or dark. Even where the subject seems immediately clear, I leave some ambiguity to ensure that it is the subjectivity of the observer that completes the work.

Currently represented by Bell Fine Art, Winchester; Oliver Contemporary, Wandsworth Common; Red Dog Gallery, Oakhanger. Please see individual images for the location of the works.
