"Pulpit Ramble", St Marys, Isles of Scilly

The original of this seascape painting was created in watercolour with some pastel and was the same size as the large print we offer (about twenty seven inches tall by nine and three quarter inches wide). This was painted on bright afternoons in July 2008. It was bought by a friend's sister for her husband who likes to walk their dog on Peninnis headland. In the foreground, on the purple heather, you can see the Five Spot Burnet moths whose caterpillars feed on Birdsfoot Trefoil which is plentiful on the sandy heathlands of Scilly. In the distance is the distinctive 'Pulpit Rock, a well-known landmark on Peninnis.
