This landscape was painted in watercolour with some pastel and the original painting was 27 1/2 inches tall x 9 3/4 inches wide.
I have painted in Old Town Churchyard many times. It has a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere, with many beautiful views to paint and enjoy. It is not over-manicured and wild flowers including the cinerarias in this painting, are plentiful. Whilst painting this view, I happened to look up and the sunlight coming through the canopy of branches above intrigued me. So I returned at a later date with my large painting table and, with the use of a mirror, I captured the view looking up. That painting now hangs above the bed in our 'Slippen' apartment.
