This was painted in watercolour with the addition of some pastel and the original was 27 inches tall x 9 3/4 inches wide.
'Slippen on the Sand' was painted in the summer of 2006 on a a sunny blustery afternoon in front of the gig sheds on Porthmellon beach. As I returned on the final day to complete the painting, I noticed that the doors were open and the gig sheds were empty. I thought no more of it but, after a couple of hours, the gigs returned, complete with the Newquay and Scilly Ladies gig teams. They proceeded to have a little end-of-weekend party. However, since the tide was coming in and the beach was diminishing rapidly, it all got a little bit crowded!
